Looks like Google will censor its China content
per this MSNBC article. My response, initially, is "whatever". They are not the first, nor will they be the last. Now, there are a lot of issues with what they are doing on moral grounds, but I'm setting them aside for this little thought.
What is that little thought? Well, given all the stuff that Google is doing, including tracking users via their free WiFi efforts with Earthlink, don't be surprised when other of Google's altruistic ideals is sacraficed on the altar of making a buck. Hey, I have no problem with. People want something for free but should realize nothing is really free. But its continues to rub me the wrong way that Google continues to get away with their "what a wonderfully socially conscious company they are" crap. Hah. Free speech, democracy, freedom of information, etc. were just thrown out the door with the China move and purely to get a strategic foothold in a huge future market - i.e., make a buck land.
I know, my three readers are getting fed up with my regular attempts to point out Google's acts of inconsistency. Oh well - it really torques me off!!!!
